Celebrating SG60 with Caregivers at Bird Paradise

Our Blog

On 11 August 2025, 62 participants — including caregivers, persons with disabilities (PwDs), and their family members and loved ones, volunteers and CaringSG team — came together for a memorable SG60 celebration at Bird Paradise, Mandai.

The full-day outing was filled with nature, laughter, and meaningful connections. From vibrant aviaries to majestic bird encounters, the day offered countless opportunities for families to relax, bond, and create treasured memories. Surprise goodie bags, prepared with care, added an extra spark of joy to the experience.

Finding Joy, Even in the Rain

Although a brief rain shower swept through the park, it turned into an unexpected bonding moment — with caregivers and families huddling together under umbrellas, sharing stories, and exchanging smiles. The spirit of togetherness was as heartwarming as the sight of the birds soaring above.

Families explored the park’s immersive habitats, enjoyed close-up encounters with stunning bird species, and captured photos that will be cherished for years to come.

What Caregivers Said

The heartfelt feedback from participants reflected the significance of such outings:

💬 “The Bird Paradise visit by CaringSG was one of the wonderful experiences we had in recent times. The surprise goodie bags made it even more special. Thanks Michelle and team — keep up the good work!”

💬 “It’s hard caregiving and you feel alone sometimes. CaringSG helps us remember that we aren’t alone, that we are not forgotten. The events are always carefully thought out and I’m grateful. Thank you for helping us feel less alone.”

💬 “The subsidised tickets mean so much to us as a single-income family with kids with needs. It allows us to visit attractions without financial worries. My kids always enjoy themselves — nothing beats seeing their smiles.”

💬 “Thank you to all CaringSG staff, for organising the Bird Paradise outing. It was something our family had long wanted to do but never got around to, and your effort made it happen. Now it’s a treasured memory on our family’s social media page.”

More Words of Appreciation

Caregivers also shared these messages of encouragement for our staff and interns:

“Thank you for all your hard work and effort. We enjoyed ourselves very much with our families.”

“Appreciate all your efforts and enthusiasm. You all are so friendly and approachable.”

“It was nice to see familiar faces and meet new caregivers too! The rain huddled us closer together hehe!”

“I’ve learnt to care for myself more, and knowing there are other fellow caregivers like me makes me feel comforted.”

“Thank you for being caring, patient, and friendly towards all of us!”

“Events like these let us visit places we might otherwise miss out on, and the kids’ smiles make it priceless.”

Gratitude to Our Supporters

A big thank you to Kracker King for the yummy crackers that kept everyone happily munching along the way.
