A New Chapter of Care: Building on a Legacy of Compassion

Our Blog

Dear fellow caregivers and friends,

As we step into 2025, I am deeply humbled and honoured to take on the role of Chief Executive of CaringSG. This opportunity fills me with immense gratitude and respect for the incredible journey led by Dr. Lim Hong Huay, whose visionary leadership has left an indelible mark on the caregiver community.

What began as a pioneer group of 40 caregivers and 50 professional allies in 2020 has grown into a vibrant and powerful community of over 5,000 members today. Thanks to Dr. Lim’s tireless dedication, CaringSG has become a ground-up movement that has created over 22,000 caregiver touchpoints and established 8 CAREkaki neighbourhood chapters. Her legacy of compassion, resilience, and innovation will continue to guide us as we strive to uplift caregivers and their loved ones.

As a social worker with over two decades of experience in community-based social service agencies, my journey has always been about supporting individuals and families in need, and joining CaringSG in July 2024 was a pivotal moment in my career. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary team and have been inspired by the passionate commitment of everyone involved.

Together, we’ve already celebrated significant milestones – the Uplift Campaign, CaringSG Family Day, participation in the Purple Parade, and the CAREforward campaign. These initiatives embody what CaringSG is all about: standing by caregivers, amplifying their voices, and building an inclusive, supportive community.

Looking ahead, my mission is to build on the strong foundation laid by those before me, to innovate and expand our support services, and to continue advocating for meaningful changes that benefit caregivers and their loved ones. I believe in the power of collaboration and community, and I know that our collective strength will lead us to even greater impact.

To all caregivers, allies, and partners, I invite you to join us on this journey. Your voices and experiences are at the heart of everything we do. Let’s work together to create a society where caregivers feel truly supported and valued, and where families of individuals with special needs and disabilities can thrive.

Thank you for your trust and belief in CaringSG. I am honoured to serve alongside you as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and prosperous Lunar New Year!

Warm regards,
Edwin Tan
Chief Executive, CaringSG
